About 12th liveSURGE….
The 12th Annual Live Workshop was conducted on 13th and 14th November 2010. It focused on Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. The visiting faculty were Prof. Michael Andrew Borger, Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon, Leipzig Heart Center, Leipzig, Germany, Prof. Lucia Torracca, HOD Cardiac Surgery, Riuniti Hospital Ancona, Italy and Prof. Jai S Raman, Director, Adult Cardiac Surgery, University of Chicago, USA. 3 patients were operated on 13th November 2010. Three lectures were delivered on 13th November 2010. “Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Surgery” was delivered by Prof. Michael Andrew Borger. The second lecture was delivered by Prof. Jai S. Raman, on “Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery – A Personal Journey”. 3rd lecture was delivered by Prof. Lucia Torraca.
Four videos sessions were conducted – “Loop technique for Minimal Invasive Mitral Repair”, “Valve Sparing Aortic Root – David Operation” by Prof. Michael A Borger, “Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair”, “Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Replacement” by Prof. Lucia Torraca. In the evening dinner program, there was an invited Guest Lecture by Dr. Arjun Rajagopal, Director, Sundaram Medical Foundation, Chennai, on “Assessing Cost-Effectiveness in Interventions”. The day ended with dinner and music – “Yesteryear Hits” by Ganesh, Bangalore.
14th November 2010 started with the review of cases. 1 patient was operated on the second day as well. There was one lecture by Prof. Michael A Borger on “Future of Minimally Invasive Surgery” and a video session on “Complex Aortic Root Replacement through Mini Sternotomy” by Prof. Jai S Raman.
