The 10th Annual Live Workshop was conducted on 17th and 18th November 2007. It focused on Aortic Aneurysms. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri. R. Jagadish Chandran on the 17th morning during a crisp function. The visiting faculty were Prof. Thoralf Sundt from the world-famous Mayo Clinic, Prof. Jai S Raman, Director of Research, University of Chicago, Dr. V V Bashi, Chairman, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, MIOT Hospital, from Chennai, and Prof. Neelakandan, Trivandrum. On the 17th, two open cases and one endovascular procedure were done. The open cases included a Root/Ascending and Arch aneurysm and a complex thoracoabdominal aneurysm. The Endo-Vascular was an infrarenal aneurysm. The day ended with a very informative symposium on “Endovascular vs Open Surgery” chaired by Prof. Neelakandan, followed by dinner. On 18th, one open thoracoabdominal aneurysm on Cardiopulmonary Bypass and one endovascular stent of infrarenal aneurysm was demonstrated. Dr. Rajpal K Abhaichand, assisted by the surgical team, performed the stent-graft.
