About 11th liveSURGE….
The 11th Annual Live Workshop was conducted on the 14th and 15th March 2009. It focused on Mitral Valve Reconstruction. The visiting faculty were Prof. Taweesak Chotivatanapong, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Chest Disease Institute, Thailand, Prof. Jai S Raman, Director of Research, University of Chicago, Prof. Sampath Kumar from AIIMS, New Delhi, and Prof. Lissa Sugeng, Associate Prof. Of Medicine, University of Chicago, USA. 4 patients were operated on 14th March 2009. Four lectures were delivered on 14th March 2009. The first lecture was on “Segmental Approach to Mitral Valve Repair – Techniques and Results”, delivered by Prof. Taweesak Chotivatanapong. The second lecture was delivered by Prof. Jai S Raman on “Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery – Where do we stand today?” The third lecture was delivered by Prof. Sampath Kumar on “Mitral Valve Repair in Rheumatic Disease: Experience and results.” The forth lecture was given by Prof. Lissa Sugeng on “3D Echocardiography – a New Dimension in Imaging and its Current Application.” The day ended with dinner and music – Nostalgia by Alfi and Party. The next day started with video sessions given by the following faculty:
- Mitral Valve Repair in Infective Endocarditis – Prof. Taweesak Chotivatanapong
- Mitral Valve Replacement with Pulmonary Autograft – Ross II procedure – Prof. Sampath Kumar.
Three cases were operated. Two lectures were also delivered –
- “Overview and Percutaneous and other less invasive mitral valve repair, Techniques and Technology” by Prof. Jai S Raman
- “Common critical errors in mitral valve repair” by Prof. Taweesak Chotivatanapong
